The fifth season of the My Hero Academia anime series was produced by Bones and directed by Kenji Nagasaki.
Following the story of the original manga starting from the first chapters of the 21st volume.
The fifth season premiered on March 27, 2021, on ytv and NTV.
Funimation, Crunchyroll, and Hulu are streaming the season outside of Asia as it airs, and an English dub from Funimation launched on its platform on April 10, 2021.
Medialink licensed the series in Southeast Asia and South Asia and is streaming the season on Netflix, Viu, Bilibili, WeTV, iQIYI, and other regional streaming services.
The season will premiere on Adult Swim's Toonami programming block on May 9, 2021.
Two pieces of theme music are used for this season. The opening theme is "No.1" by DISH, while the ending theme is "Ashiato" by the peggies.

Class 1-A is given a training mission to fight hypothetical villains. It is revealed that Nejire and Amajiki of the Big Three are posing as villains, while Mirio plays a civilian in distress.
Recovering from his injuries after the battle against High-End, Endeavor thinks back to his encounter with the villain Dabi. Meanwhile, Hawks meets Dabi at an isolated warehouse.
90. "Vestiges" - April 3, 2021
Dabi attacks Endeavor and Hawks only to retreat upon the arrival of Mirko. That night, Dabi points out that Hawks changed their plan and that it’ll be some time before he can meet Shigaraki.
Determined to make the world a place for heroes to have some free time, Hawks joined the League of Villains to take them down from the inside.
Endeavor realizes he can't seek forgiveness from his family, he needs to atone for his wrongdoings. After a physically draining day, Midoriya dreams of the day One For All was created.
91. "Clash! Class A vs. Class B!" - April 10, 2021
After discussing his dream with All Might, Midoriya is surprised that the essence of One For All’s previous holders now live on within the Quirk. Later that day, Class 1A and 1B meet at Ground Gamma for their first Joint Training session.
Both classes (along with Hitoshi Shinso from General Studies) are to pair up into groups of 4 vs 4 matches.
Soon after the first round begins, The Class A-Team is quickly ambushed by Class B, only for Shinso to turn the tide with his Brainwashing Quirk, now more advanced with his Persona Cords, allowing him to mimic any voice...
92. "Make It Happen, Shinso!" - April 17, 2021
The Class A-Team is quickly overwhelmed resulting in both Kirishima and Koda being captured.
Using himself as a distraction, Kaminari is captured as well, allowing the threat of Shinso's quirk to dismantle The Class B Team's communication, and for Asui to deliver the finishing blow.
As Class A celebrates their victory of the first round, Shinso thinks about how far he still needs to go to become the hero he hopes to be.
